FOTW will push for Beaver Creek Greenway

Our July meeting featured Max Castillo from the the State Parks Department. Max was instrumental in pulling together the Verde River Greenway. The Verde River Greenway is a 34 mile strip of riparian land along the Verde River that has been designated a State Natural Area. FOTW president Fred Shute envisions something akin to this for the portion of Beaver Creek and Wet Beaver Creek that lie between Montezuma Castle and Montezuma Well. The membership voted that this was an idea worth pursuing and that the first step would be to inventory the parcels along this riparian area. Some of the land is already in the Public domain, belonging to either the Forest Service or National Park Service. The rest is privately owned.

Castillo offered to be patient as it took many years to pull together the Verde River Greenway. FOTW's first step will be to take an inventory of the lands involved.
