The NPS, working through Natural Channel Design, a stream restoration and engineering firm from Flagstaff, has submitted a grant to the state's Water Resources Fund. The grant of $400,000 would fund the Montezuma Well Riparian Restoration Project. The plan calls to remove non-native plants, restore the original vegetation, build interpretive trails, and restore the original gardens and irrigation system built by the Singuans over a 1,000 years ago.
The application was submitted on June 13th, but we will not know the results until October.
